The team at Fresh Ideas & Solutions Inc. is honoured to announce that our founder and president, Margaret Daskis, has been selected as one of the Top 3 nominees for the BC Food Processors Association Leadership Award at their annual FoodProWest tradeshow and gala.
Margaret has been a mentor and expert in the food industry for longer than she would care to admit, and has helped many food companies launch their products and students launch their careers. She has been an advocate for local food security during her years on the Metro Vancouver Agriculture Committee and the Maple Ridge Agriculture Committee by providing her insight into value-added products and how to sustain the local agriculture market. Margaret, as an inaugural member of the internationally recognized Certified Food Scientist designation, continues to improve her expertise by attending and organizing conferences, tradeshows, and webinars. She has also developed training courses for the BC government for new food companies, currently being taught in different venue around the province. As Margaret approaches her original vision of what Fresh Ideas & Solutions Inc. will ultimately become, being recognized by her peers as a leader in the industry is humbling and motivational.
The list of Leadership Award criteria includes: 10+ years of work experience in the industry; leads and inspires others to take on new initiatives to learn and grow; committed to developing and mentoring future leaders; committed to the growth and development of their organizations; positive contribution to the community and environment; sets a high standard of integrity through leading by example and presents themselves in a responsible and respectable manner.
We wish Margaret luck at the awards Gala on June 8th and know that she will continue to be a leader and valued resource in the Canadian food industry!
